You have probably read about or seen on television the topic
of permanent cosmetics, also known as micropigmentation.
Permanent cosmetics is a form of cosmetic tattooing used to
enhance facial features and as a finishing touch to surgical
procedures. The procedure involved a needle which inserts
pigment under the skin. Permanent cosmetics are now used for
a wide variety of make up enhancements such as beautifully arched
eyebrows, soft or bold eyeliner/eye shadow and natural or more
dramatic lip liner/full lip color. Before any procedure a
topical cream is used to numb the area making the procedure
virtually painless.
Imagine never having smeared or disappearing make up again!
More and more women are discovering the benefits of this exciting
procedure such as the professional who wants a "worry
free" fresh look, avoiding the hassle and time of
reapplication. Older women with poor eyesight and unsteady
hands find permanent cosmetics very beneficial. Women who
exercise, travel, swim or camp want to look their best even under
the most active conditions.
Ophthalmologists recommend procedures for those who are allergic
to conventional make up or wear contact lenses. After
surgical procedures, women can use permanent color techniques to
camouflage scars or to enhance reconstructive surgery.
What could be better than to wake up in the morning looking as
lovely as you did the evening before? Many woman chose to
have a natural look and dress it up with traditional make up when
they want a more dramatic evening look.. But, what ever procedures
are desired, permanent make up can create a polished or subtle
look.
Choosing your
Technician
Modern permanent cosmetics is fairly recent, but the concept dates
back to ancient Egypt. Over the last 12 years, the industry
has grown rapidly in popularity. However, because this is
such a new field, you must do your research before choosing a
technician.
To choose a technician go for an interview at their office.
Ask about their background. Do they keep up with their
continuing education? Do they belong to associations
relating to this field? Evaluate the cleanliness of their
office and determine if they use heat sterilization on all
equipment. Do they run a professional practice? Ask to see
before and after pictures of their work. Tell the technician
what you are interested in having done and listen to their
ideas. Did they listen and properly respond to your
requests? Do you feel comfortable communicating with
them? And finally, are they licensed by the Texas Health
Department? Prices may range from $225-$495 for a single
procedure. Never choose a technician based on price
alone. Base your decision on their competence.
